Poor kid. The baby has a fever. It was over 103 this morning. I took her to the doctor, who poked one toe for blood, and their machine didn’t read it correctly. So they had to poke another toe for more blood, and their machine didn’t read that correctly either. Did I mention that this poor kid’s feet are totally grimy and her toenails are on the order of 6 inches long?<\/p>\n
Then they decided to take blood from her arm. The child was pretty pissed off at this point, as any reasonable person would be.<\/p>\n
Before, after, and during each blood draw, I was reminded that we didn’t give her the pneumococcal vaccine. Yes, thank you, I remember. We didn’t want it because it’s new, and the last vaccine that was new (Hep B) had mercury in it and was recalled after a couple of years of kids being injected with it. I’ll let someone else’s kid be the guinea pig. Umm hmm, yes, doctor, I sure will keep it in mind. As something I don’t want to do.<\/p>\n
Finally the results came back, and guess what? They still don’t know what it is, other than a virus. There are apparently a couple of things going around, one of them being roseola, which does this<\/a> to you (but only for a couple of days). Should be interesting.<\/p>\n Oh, and my wrist hurts.
