I just opened Caroline’s lunch box and found:

An armrest slip cover
A piece of wood
A shell
A plastic McDonald’s toy
A small tube of glitter glue
and A small package of pretzels

Where does she dig this stuff up?

One live recluse, one dead. The live one was on the underside of Jo’s mattress. The dead one was under Caroline’s bed.

Cute

In spring and summer the tree frogs around here set up a cacophony that lasts through the first part of the night. Last night my daughter woke around midnight. I went up to see what was going on, and she asked, “Mommy, how come when I’m lying here I hear those frogs giggling like squirrels?”

And it’s true – they do sound like they’re giggling, and they do sound like squirrels!

Ever get a “PLEASE FORWARD THIS MAIL TO EVERYONE YOU KNOW” mail with 100 people in the To: field that included 2 megs worth of picture files?

Respond with a link to Thanksno.com. They say nicely what I’ve been trying to tell people for years. “I still love you, but please respect my privacy and quit sending me junk!”

Me: *gnawing on a pork chop bone*
Hub: Are you eating a bone?
Me: *nods*
Hub: What happened to that debutante I married?
Me: *burps*
Hub: Oh.

I got my first (sort of) grade – 10 points out of 10 for the first week’s discussion. I’ve also written my first paper in years. It was actually kind of fun. I’m totally digging on this Omni Outliner program that came with my new MacBook Pro.

Hairbugs

Caroline brought home lice from school a couple of weeks ago. Thanks to my sister-in-law, we were able to get rid of them pretty quickly. The recipe:

Use the regular lice shampoo as directed. Let hair dry completely. Saturate hair with Cetaphil soap and wet-comb. Do not rinse! Blow-dry hair and let the Cetaphil sit there overnight and smother the bugs. Repeat every day for a week or so, then use the lice shampoo once more. Make sure to wash bedding and spray mattresses and such daily.

The Cetaphil makes your hair a little stiff, but not totally gross like the mayonnaise or olive oil remedies I’ve seen.
