Doubts

I’ve been hestiant to say this out loud, but ever since I started reading Salam Pax’s blog, my internal bullshit meter kept dipping into the red. I’ve seen too many elaborate hoaxes in my 10 years on the internet, not the least of which was the Kaycee Nicole debacle.

Recently several blogs have voiced their doubts publicly – Roger Simon, LGF, Junkyard Blog, this thread on MeFi. I’m glad to know that I’m not reading the only one with nagging doubts. The blog is interesting to read, but is it true? The world may never know, but if Salam Pax suddenly “dies”, I think that will cinch it for me.

I’m usually the first one to suspect a rat, but I fervently hope that Salam Pax is real, that he goes public and makes a tour of the talk shows in the West and sells the movie rights to his story for a bunch of money, which he takes back to Baghdad and puts to some good use.

Although he might have to spend it all on bodyguards unless the Bush Occupation Government (BOG) gets its act together and institutes some law and order.

  2. Addlepated Says:

Oh I hope he’s real too, but I’m too much of a cynic to believe it wholeheartedly.

  3. Swopa Says:

Does his recent post with pictures from Iraq do anything to convince anyone here that he’s real?

His tidbit about being able to phone into certain Baghdad numbers? (Actually, he’s mentioned numerous items before they appeared in the Western media.)
