“June is the driest of the summer months, July the warmest, and August generally the rainiest money of the brief summer, but warmer than June.”
Which is a nice segue to what I was going to say tonight anyway. We’ve made our vacation plans for the year. We’re going to Alaska for a week in May! We’ll be staying at the Kenai Princess Wilderness Lodge and the Talkeetna Alaskan Lodge. Rather than try to go nuts and do everything in a week, I decided to make it an honest vacation and make it a relaxed pace. That way we’re not packing and unpacking every day. We’ll have coastal activities (salmon and halibut fishing, Prince William Sound) and mountain activities (hopefully one of the three days will be clear enough to see Denali and do some flightseeing).

I’m thrilled for you that you’re going to do this. You’ll take pictures, right?

Get thee to a glacier, and drink the glacier runoff. The cleanest, freshest water you’ll ever drink.
My friend and I took a cruise to Alaska in August of 2001, and it was amazing. I loved it, and hopefully I can get back someday to spend sonsiderable time on the mainland.

Rune, of course we’ll take pics. I will have my little camera glued to my hand. I’m thinking of getting another memory card for it.
Lou, that’s definitely on the agenda. I would love to do one of those helicopter to the top of the glacier/dog mushing things too but they want something like $400/per! We’ll probably do flightseeing with a glacier landing though.
And thanks, Jen! =)

Sounds like a wonderful getaway! Alaska’s somewhere our family would like to see this year, too. Have fun!
(P.S.) thanks for the book meme idea.
