I always know trouble is brewing when hub loads my web page, gives me a “look”, then starts typing furiously, interspersing his pounding on the keyboard with “How do you spell suchandso?”

And boy howdy, you weren’t kidding.
It’s weird: while j. is going off on how much he hates pressing 1 for English, I usually go off on not being able to reach a customer service rep until I’ve gone about 5 or 6 menu levels down. And may the Lord Help Me if I make a mistake in the process…
We Have Different Priorities, j and I. Probably precisely because of where i live. I must say, though, I’m starting to go the English only route myself, lately. Trying to understand some of my Indian and Russian coworkers often gives me a headache!

I noticed that if you refuse to press any buttons at all, you can usually talk to a real live person quicker than if you play their little game and press their little numbers. Damn the Man, man!

I’ve tried that, and sometimes it works. Other times, businesses have set it up so that it just nags you if you haven’t pressed anything. Or if you press 0, you get told, “that is an incorrect number. please press your number again.”
Not good customer service, IMO.
