Time for the Friday Five!

1. What is your lineage? Where are your ancestors from?
I’m a true mongrel. I have ancestors from England, Scotland, Wales, Ireland, Germany, Spain, and a tiny bit of French (very small, please don’t hold it against me).

2. Of those countries, which would you most like to visit?
I’d love to visit any of them. Except maybe France. I’ve been wanting to go to Wales since I read Susan Cooper’s The Dark is Rising series.

3. Which would you least like to visit? Why?
Well, France. Do you really need a reason?

4. Do you do anything during the year to celebrate or recognize your heritage?
Yes, I celebrate the Fourth of July because no matter where my ancestors came from hundreds of years ago, I am an American.

5. Who were the first ancestors to move to your present country (parents, grandparents, etc)?
The most recent to move here that I know of were my father’s grandparents. From what I’ve read, they met on the ship as they sailed to America and they fell in love. I can trace back to the Mayflower in the 1600s and the Canary Islanders in the 1700s, as well as the Quaker movement who came over with William Penn in the 1700s.

Love the new layout… and as for not wanting to visit France – I went there once on a beer run (yes, that’s what English people do heh) and although I didn’t get to see a huge amount of it, I’ve pretty much seen all I need to see. It wouldn’t be high on my recommendation list, either.

Don’t knock France until you’ve experienced it for yourself. I think the people who tell you that the French are rude to Americans, just because we are Americans, are the type of Americans who get rude treatment in America, because they deserve it. I loved France, and only encountered one blatantly rude guy, and it was partly my fault he was rude to me. Just something to consider…France was awesome!!!
