Oh hey, here I am. Where the hell have I been?
We were supposed to go hunting this weekend but ended up not going because it’s flooding at the ranch. Again. Some more. This is the third time in the last 4 months.
The older daughter turned 3 this week. I can’t believe how quick she’s growing up.
Next week they’re going to put a vacuum cleaner thing on my boob. Film at 11.

Hunting creates bad karma.
Could you do an entry summarizing what the hell is going on with your boob? Didn’t you originally just get this little calcification thing removed?????

I think that eating something that you’ve killed, cleaned, and cooked yourself is better than eating something that 50 people have had a hand in, made money off of, and artificially prepared. I know that when I hunt something that it dies quickly without prolonged suffering, and it had lived a full, wild, and free life. It wasn’t raised in a hugely crowded fish farm, or a crammed cage waiting for milking twice a day, or even in the dirt of a field that someone uses pesticides on and uses heavy machinery to harvest.
Have you ever had a homegrown tomato? It’s nothing at all like the pale red globes you buy in the store. The flavor difference between wild game and store-bought meat is the same.

I agree with you about hunting. I used to be anti-hunting, but the more I thought about it, the more I realized that my problem wasn’t with hunting, but with bad hunters. As long as someone is hunting for food, rather than for trophies, I think hunting creates good karma. Not only that, but in areas with large deer populations, being cleanly killed and eaten is a kinder fate than slowly starving to death all winter.
