Austin Bloggers weblog

Some smart people have formed a collaborative Austin weblog at www.austinbloggers.org that automagically posts if you send it a trackback ping, which I think is cool as hell. And it abates some of my jealousy after seeing the new H-Town Blogs site (spotted on Big Pink Cookie).

Wonder if you have any suggestions about starting up a blog on our candidate site?

Hm, like what? Are you looking for someone to blog, or are you looking for blog software, or what?

And it’s only going to get cooler; we’re cooking up some, dare I say, revolutionary ideas for SxSW. The Austin blog community is about to gel in ways never seen before… Don’t you worry, we’re going to have people jealous of all of us very soon.

The group is very welcoming and open to anyone that’s blogging (or interested in the blogosphere) in our area. Hope you can join us soon! (and spread the word!)

Are you on the mailing list?

I’m ready to start blogging, fired up by the gathering at the Brick Oven last night. I’m trying to find a moveable type midwife to help give birth to a blog at http://spring.net and http://austinmayor.com so I can get on the bandwagon quickly to help support the geourl project for SXSW that got bandied about around pizza.

I already have a FreeBSD Server with PHP, MySQL, Zope, Yapp, and wiki running and I’m prototyping a visual chat based on mysql/zope/wiki which you can see at http://www.spring.net/chat.

So I’m joining and spreading the word as soon as I can get my blog running, consider this an appeal for an “assist” to get my installation going.

Sure, I’d be glad to help you set it up. _installing_ MT isn’t so bad – but when I moved it from one server to another I about tore my hair out. Ended up exporting, reinstalling, and importing. Be sure to check out the help forums on the MT site also – extremely helpful.

Sorry I couldn’t make the meet and greet last night but we ran away from home and came to Fredericksburg, where I was treated to a mild case of food poisoning all night long. Shoulda stayed home and gone to Brick Oven!
