Poor Featureprice

February 8, 2003 - 2:44 am 9 Comments

They just picked the wrong person to mess with. I have 39 pages of logs, webpages, emails, trouble tickets, and receipts, all fully annotated, ready to send off to American Express. I’m going to take them to Kinko’s tomorrow and copy them all just in case the Florida AG’s office wants them.

Bravo – I have been hit by these scammers as well. I have filed complaints with the BBB, FTC, and the Florida DOCAS, and I recommend the all other Featureprice customers do the same. I also have reported to Visa (Merchant Resolution Team), and they are investigating.

Hello I am Vikie McDonald the owner of the domain http://www.vlmwebdesigns.com

I have sent countless request for tech help, and I have received not one ticket to call in and request tech help. I used the sorry chat service, that did not help me in the least. I have called the sales Dept, no one will answer my call. I am LIVID!

•I want to know where my old files and pages are?

•I would like to know why my web address is now being used by another company?

•I would like to know how to retrieve my files?

•I would like the site that is occupying my web address removed immediately!!!!!!.

I have been trying for days to get some answers, and no one has helped me resolve these issues. I renewed my platinum hosting plan and I have not received professional service. I am very disappointed and if I don’t get results soon I want a refund. I can not see myself conducting business with a company that does not supply the services they advertise.

    Same here.
Read the info on yr post with interest.

I have been using FP since middle of 2001 and in the beginning they were cool!

    – 6 web sites hosted for the price of 1 (shared IP)

    – human voice response to support issues

    – even an international support number (since you can’t call 800 numbers from overseas, and Ii am working from Europe a lot)

    – neat control panel that allows you to perform some maintenance stuff (on email accounts etc.) by yourself

Until end of 2002 I had few complaints, my sites were down rarely. And hey, you can’t pay $25 a month for 6 sites and expect “everything”. Also, we have to realize that FP can’t have hundreds of support people answering questions like “What is FTP”, somewhere there has to be a filter, or paid support, coz the support folks need to eat too.

However, recently things have gotten worse at an accelerating pace.

    1) web sites down, off and on (tip: Try YourSiteUp Pro – a semi-free utility from killersoftware.com that checks yr servers every 10-20 minutes)
    2) no notice posted when the servers are down, no notification or apology afterwards
    3) international support number disappeared without any explanation or apology
    4) a new slick control panel but no info on how to get it to work (after 5 complaints a friendly chat tech told me that I would have to migrate to the new panel, something that is nowhere mentioned in the ver.2 manual, look for “migrate”) I got so tired of it that I decided to pay $25 for some actual support, see below.
    5) tech support – well:
    – “free” support is basically absent, the chat service and phone lines are unreachable, email gets bounced back with nasty messages like “our server does not like your header” (probably meaning you are not on the approved senders list)
    – paid support – $25 per event” does react fast (w/i one hour) but also in that case there is no actual communication possible, the telephone does not pick up, and subsequent emails to clarify an additional detail remain unanswered.

Note: I have to say though that they did not charge me $25 for the “paid” events, maybe that is still to come OR FP realized that my tech issue was a valid question re. info that was not in the manual ..

To top things off, even the 800 sales number today hangs up immediately after a “Thank you for calling” message. (I wanted to talk to one of the sales folks to ask what the heck they were thinking over there, and to give them one last chance to shape up). Obviously some folks at FP are working hard to chase customers away … In my case, their efforts will be succesful.

    the system simply doesnt work
i was fooled by the rhetoric and the sales speak

funny i was the IT manage in Sydney OZ and should have known better

i know my way around servers and PC’s however FeaturePrice has to be the most confusing system i have come across

the manuals are not written from the task analysis point of view – and they even admit in recent verbage that they are confusing

also i like others have had no response to emails

    so we are leaving

we are manufacturers and send hundreds of emails per week and guess what

featuremails does not allow our emails to be seen sent received NOTHING
    www site cannot be seen

a very sad state of affairs indeed

however the young turks that run the co have probably left it in the hands of the computer games wizz kids and they have ran it into the wall like their computer games

    sad sad sad

anyway i have learnt that i too can make a million dollars by ripping people off in IT as i know what im doing

BUT i wont – as there is a god and i say god save featureprice as the company exec jerks cant

I guess now that the featureprice.com site is down
there isn’t much hope for their customers websites. I am doing everything I can to regain control of my domain name. Anyone have any advice?

Or is a lawsuit the only way to get resolution?

  7. Steve Says:

Yes Audrey and anyone else out there who needs too, you can take control of your own domain, heres ho I did it!

    go to: http://www.dotreg.com
    click member login
login: first 10 characters of your domain
passsword: first 10 characters of your domain

From there you can change your DNS servers.

If you need to setup your own DNS I recommend
zonedit.com the guys there rock, its free for up to 5 domains but I took advantage of there pay services, either way they rock!
