Comments spam

Just be warned. If you leave a comment spam on my blog, it will get changed into something rude.
Ruder than spamming my comments, anyway. So piss off, you craptastic zip code and life insurance site dickbags.

The current release of Movable Type allows you to close out comments for an entry. I put together a script that I’m going to run periodically to close articles over than N days (probably 45). I think that’s going to help greatly with the comment spam problem.
Where is your comment spam coming from? I see quite a bit from China.

I’ve gotten 3 life insurance spams, all from the same IP block and all advertising life insurance, in the past 2 days. I hate to block comments on old entries because lots of times I’ve gotten interesting ones months after posting. What’s a girl to do?

Check out this hack for MT – it appears to allow you to do exactly what you want – block/ban an IP from comments. I stumbled across this in the MT forums as I’m trying to learn my way around it.
