Wow, what a busy couple of days.
Last night I went to the Coronation in San Antonio. This is an event held during Fiesta Week, which is to honor the memories of the heroes of the Alamo and the Battle of San Jacinto. The Coronation is an intensely sparkly affair, involving 24 girls in heavily adorned and beaded dresses, pulling 10 foot long trains. The entire ensembles weigh between 50 and 100 pounds each. This year was absolutely amazing. My aunt was the Mistress of the Robes, who in effect is the producer – the theme was Africa and all the trains and dresses came from her vision. I helped research some of the stuff for her on the internet, and it was an honor to hear my research come out onstage.
The girls in the Coronation do what’s known as a full court bow, which means that they bow all the way down and scrape their noses on the floor. This is making a bow to society, and technically I suppose that it means you’re marriageable.
Then today my friend AM came over and we watched Trading Spaces and Sex and the City. You know, girly stuff. The babies had a blast playing together, I got to cook dinner (a rare occurence!), and it was good fun.
I’m sure I’ll have some fun links to post soon, but this is the first time I’ve sat at my computer all day!

Oh hey, I applied for a job! Well, it’s not really a job… it’s a job LOBSTER! (dang dang dang dung dung ding dung ding ding).
Whoops, sorry, I just channeled the B-52s. Anyway, I applied for a job at answers.google.com, which is a Google service that is for-pay. People who need answers to really specific questions (like “what percent of the human population has one green eye and one blue eye?”, a $7 question, w00t!) offer anywhere from $4 to $50 for someone who’s Google-approved to answer it, and the researcher gets 75% of the proceeds. First I had to write an essay on why I wanted to become a researcher, and now I have to research and answer 5 test questions to Google’s satisfaction in order to become One with the Search Engine.
Some hard drive in one of my computers is making a nasty clunking noise. This can mean nothing good.

Check out this picture. ‘Nuff said.
And in the spirit of “Which X are you?”, Which high school stereotype are you?

I can’t believe M. got me hooked on that damnable Yatta song. Did you know they even sell shirts? I sing that cussed song all the live long day.
My wrist is killing me. Weather’s gonna change. Just wait and see.

Here’s one of my favorite wastes of time… online Mah Jongg. And at night I like to play Bejeweled from Popcap on my hybrid phone/Palm while I nurse C. down.
I had the strangest dreams last night. First I had a dream that we were in some Pacific Asian country – maybe the Philippines? My husband and I were staying at a hotel with some friends of ours. We had booked a 2 bedroom suite, and our friends had gotten their own room for some reason. It turned out that it was a hotel/hospital though, and our room was full of bloody rags and medical stuff, and someone had left their really nasty panties in the bathroom. We got it cleaned, finally, but when we were trying to sleep there were all sorts of fire drills. There wasn’t a real siren, and the only way we knew there was a problem was from the people in the halls yelling. We never knew if it was real though, so we kept having to wake up and get out of the hotel. This is probably because C. kept waking up and tossing and turning all night. I think she’s teething again.
Then I had a dream that we were using my brother’s Suburban as a boat and floating down a river. I was concerned because the door by my two year old wasn’t closed all the way and it was going to let in water and kill us all. When I tried to close it better, I ended up breaking it off. Somehow we escaped, and my brother and his kids ended up at the side of the lake/river (sue me, I’m from Austin, lakes and rivers are one and the same here) fishing off of the top of his car.
