Phew

At some point while I was napping this afternoon, and hub was watching the kids downstairs, he ran up to get them some food. By the time he went back down, they had discovered a basketful of perfume I had forgotten was down there, opened a bottle, and sprinkled it everywhere. All three floors smell like a French whorehouse. Caroline stunk so bad that I couldn’t pick her up; hub had to bathe her.

Does anyone know how to locate and neutralize sprinkles of perfume on carpet? Can you do like cat pee and use a black light and enzymatic cleaners?

at 6 in the morning when you still haven’t gotten to sleep and you’re trapped watching noggin with an almost-2-year-old who won’t sleep because she has a stomach bug, the temptation to make up alternative and rather rude dialog for creatures like maisy the cute little mouse and miffy the cute little bunny and oobi the cute little hand puppet is simply overwhelming.

Couldn’t get enough of your love. baby

RIP, Barry White. And Katharine Hepburn and Buddy Hackett. What a sad week.

I took Jo to see Finding Nemo this afternoon. She lasted 15 minutes, then wanted to leave. The scuba diver part freaked her out. She said maybe she’d like another movie better.

Well the new Harry Potter book is pretty gppd, although I don’t think anything could have lived up to the massive amount of hype surrounding it. It was a good read with some interesting developments, but really no plot, just plot devices.

The kids are at each others’ throats every single minute they are in the same room. Jo managed to line up some toys in this order: red, orange, yellow, green, blue, purple. She did it on her own without ever knowing about Roy G. Biv. Caroline started singing “The Itsy Bitsy Spider” during the Aragog scene in Chamber of Secrets.

In all, I really don’t have much to say, but I feel guilty when there are too many blank days.

We have an 18 month old and a 3 year old, so it’s pretty much a given that we watch Noggin all day long. My kids watch entirely too much television, and they eat crappy food. Yes, I feel guilty, but there’s only so much you can do, right? Right??

Anyway, there’s this show on Noggin called Oswald about a giant octopus. Oswald is voiced by Fred Savage, former Wonder Years star (his friend, the dog, is named Weenie which I find unaccountably funny and insist on calling it “Winnie”). His penguin friend is voiced by David L. Lander, formerly known as Squiggy from Laverne and Shirley.

Then we’ve got Clifford the Big Red Dog, starring John Ritter. Neil Morrissey (Bob the Builder) from Men Behaving Badly. Is this where old TV stars are put out to pasture?

By the way, there’s something that’s always bothered me about Pulp Fiction. At the end, when Jules is reciting the verse from Ezekiel to Ringo… how did Vincent know not to open fire?

HOT!

Hub and the three year old went on an excursion today, so I took the 1.5 year old to the Farmer’s Market around the corner. I got a bunch of good stuff even though we got there late: cucumbers, summer and acorn squash, tamales, tomatoes, and peaches. Only problem is that it was hot, and it was noon, and now the kid and I are sweaty and red-faced.

Next time I’ll go earlier so I can get more fruit and so that I don’t bake on the spot.

Oh, Chit. Ty.

Dangit, the Drafthouse is showing Chitty Chitty Bang Bang tomorrow for its matinee. Too bad the kids asked to watch it this afternoon. They’ll be too burned out on it to go see it tomorrow. Well, that’s ok – I promised Jo I’d take her to see Finding Nemo; maybe we’ll do that this weekend. Plus I need to buy circus tickets. And Blue Man Group is coming to Austin this summer – wonder if the kids would like that or if it’d be too loud.
