What the hell was I thinking when I accepted as moderator of a panel? I’ve never even seen a panel before, except for the La Leche League conference last year. I’m way too fat to do this, people are going to be looking at me and wishing they didn’t have to. 90% of the time the things I thought were clever witticisms fall flat. I’m not one of the cool kids. I don’t have anything to wear and if I go and buy something it will be completely wrong and I will stick out like a sore thumb. I can barely keep myself together, how in the hell did I think I could keep a panel together?

I suck I suck I suck I suck isuckisuckisuckisuckisuck.

I know how much y’all love it when I post critter pictures. Hub found this in his sink upstairs. Click it for a bigger version.

That’s a brown recluse, albeit a small one. It’s really not a very happy spider; I think it’s about to die. Either it came home in hub’s kit from where we were camping, or it was maybe in the sink overflow. Hub’s pondering putting it down the barrel of a gun, then shooting. I just smile and say, “Yes, dear”.

While I was out of town from Thursday until Sunday, I got over 70 spam-ments. That’s assholes who run scripts to spam my comments. Although it completely goes against my philosophy, I’m considering turning off comments until there’s some way to fix this.

Leave it to spammers to turn something great into shit.

None of your beeswax

Last night I noticed that honeybees have moved into the stone wall in the front yard. Apparently since the Africanized bees have hit Austin, beekeepers don’t really come out to take away bees anymore. People now suggest killing the bees rather than remove them. I really hate to hear this, because although I’m allergic to them, they are so beneficial. We’ve got to do something though – at any given moment during the day, around 10 bees are flying in or out of the entrance to the hive, which is around 4 feet from the front door. Hopefully they will not attack the yard guys when they come out tomorrow. I’ve emailed them to let ’em know they might want to skip a week.

If anyone reading this in Austin wants a go at transporting them, let me know! I wonder if we can dismantle the wall to get a taste of Hunny.

Just be warned. If you leave a comment spam on my blog, it will get changed into something rude.

Ruder than spamming my comments, anyway. So piss off, you craptastic zip code and life insurance site dickbags.

Rumors of the demise of both Acheron and my cell phone may have been highly exaggerated.

Film at 11.

It wasn’t enough that Acheron died and Sprint was mean to me, no. Now I tried running the updater on my Treo 300 and it died in the middle of flashing the ROM, and now the phone is completely and utterly dead and worthless. Now I get to arm-wrestle with Sprint once more for a replacement.

We are not a happy camper.

rip-ach.jpg Well, I’m in serious mourning. After 3 great weeks of play, it looks like Acheron has shut down. There’s a new Matrix-based ARG that popped up on October 1st, but holy carp, it’s a huge and elaborate production and I have a feeling the pace is going to move too quickly for me to keep up.

My only hope is that this is a temporary glitch in Acheron (or even part of the plot), but it’s a slim hope. Now what in the hell am I going to obsess on?
